Cinema bandh in Kerala on Thursday

A film bandh related to cinema industry will be observed in the Kerala on Wednesday 14 in protest against the step of the government to impose entertainment tax in addition to GST on cinema tickets.

All film-related works will be suspended on account of the strike tomorrow. As per Mr.M.Renjith, president of the Kerala Film Producers’ Association, the proposed entertainment tax in addition to the tax rates under GST will badly affect the prospects of the Malayalam film industry.

The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce had pointed out that the additional tax along with flood cess and GST would plunge the industry into a crisis. There will be no shooting or screening of films across the State on the strike day. The State government had decided to levy additional tax on cinema tickets after the central government reduced 28 per cent GST to 18 per cent.

The State government had given instruction to local self-governing institutions to levy the additional tax from September. Kerala Film Chamber Of Commerce secretary Mr.Appachan told to the media that they had taken the drastic step as the tax burden was too much.

Kerala Tourism Page ranked best in the country by Facebook

The Kerala Tourism Facebook page has secured the first place among Facebook tourism pages of all states across the country in 2017.

The Kerala page which gathered 1.5 million likes, secured first place in a ranking done by Facebook based on total engagement with tourists that included reactions, shares and comments from January 1 and December 31, 2017, of various state government's Facebook tourism pages in the country.

The Kerala Tourism page pushed the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department's Facebook page to the second place, while Gujarat's page came third. The list was released by Facebook on Wednesday.

The State tourism secretary reported that Kerala Tourism has been able to successfully convey the reasons why Kerala is a destination that should be on every traveller's itinerary.

The State Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran lauded the entire social media team for their efforts. P Bala Kiran, Kerala Tourism Director, accepted the award at the Facebook office in Delhi. The recognition comes at a time when the State Tourism Department's digital marketing budget has been increased by 15 percent.

The TCL LED TV with model number L40D2900 offers a screen size of 40-inch at an affordable price of Rs 23,599. There are two HDMI and USB ports along with two 8W speakers. The company is offering 18 months warranty for this TV.

For a price of Rs 22,999, the Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4A is a smart TV with Amlogic Cortex A53 quad-core processor with Mali-450 GPU with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. There are three USB ports along with three HDMI ports. On the audio front, there are two 10W speakers. There is also one-year warranty on the TV.

Intex full HD LED TV (40-inch)

Priced at Rs 25,990, the Intex full HD LED TV with model number 4016FHD offers a screen size of 40-inch and has two HDMI and USB ports along with one VGA port. There are two 10W speakers each and the company is offering one-year warranty.

Videocon full HD LED TV (43-inch)

The Videocon full HD LED TV with model number VNN43FH24CAFM has a screen size of 43-inch and costs Rs 29,999. There are three HDMI ports and one USB port along with two 5W speakers. The company is offering one-year warranty for this model.

The Galaxy A6+ (2018) will have a 3,500mAh battery while the Galaxy A6 (2018) a 3,000mAh one. Both phones will launch with Android 8.1 Oreo and a triple slot for two SIM cards and a separate microSD card.
