The co-operative bank exam in Kerala is undergoing a complete overhaul.

The co-operative bank exam in Kerala is undergoing a complete overhaul.

Revised Recruitment Process for Primary Cooperative Societies and Urban Cooperative Banks in Kerala. The government of Kerala has proposed significant changes to the recruitment process for Primary Cooperative Societies and Urban Cooperative Banks to make it more transparent and efficient.

Key changes includes the following:

  • Limiting the number of applications: Candidates can now apply to a maximum of 5 or 10% of the total advertised positions, whichever is less. This is aimed at reducing the number of applications and making the process more manageable.
  • Revised question paper format: The written examination will now be for 100 marks instead of 80, with 100 questions carrying one mark each, instead of 160 questions carrying half a mark each. The interview marks have also been increased from 15 to 20.
  • Mandatory police verification: All candidates who clear the examination will have to undergo a police verification process before being appointed. This is to ensure that individuals with criminal backgrounds or those involved in financial irregularities are not hired.
  • Stricter eligibility criteria: Candidates who are accused in criminal cases, even if they have cleared the examination, may be ineligible for appointment.

Other changes proposed are:

  • Timely reporting of vacancies: Cooperative societies must report vacancies to the Cooperative Examination Board within three months of the position becoming vacant.
  • Candidates to declare preference within 15 days: Candidates must declare their preference for a particular bank within 15 days of the rank list being published.
These changes have been proposed to address the issue of candidates applying to multiple cooperative societies, which has been leading to a shortage of candidates for certain positions. The new rules aim to make the recruitment process more fair and transparent. The public has been invited to submit their suggestions or objections to the proposed changes within 15 days to the Secretary of the Co-operative Department. In essence, the Kerala government is streamlining the recruitment process for cooperative societies to ensure a more transparent and efficient system.

CPM PARTY CONGRESS - SEMINAR - PRESENCE OF STALIN AND THOMAS DRAW HUGE ATTENTION

CPM PARTY CONGRESS - SEMINAR - PRESENCE OF STALIN AND THOMAS DRAW HUGE ATTENTION

The seminar that will be held in connection with the CPM party congress in Kannur on Saturday, has become the centre of attraction due to the political impact. It is likely to create at the state and national levels. Political observers and the media are keenly watching the participation of senior congress leader K.V. Thomas and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin in the seminar, which will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kannur Jawahar stadium at 5 pm.

As K.V.Thomas has decided to participate in the seminar ignoring the denial of permission from the congress state leadership, a seminar, which otherwise would not have gained much attention amidst party discussions and various decisions being taken during the party congress, has become the point of discussion for all in the country. The presence of Stalin in the seminar on ‘Centre-state relationship’, will add colour in the wake of the comment made by CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury a few days before the party congress that he is the man most suitable to lead the anti-BJP front at the national level. Since BJP is in power at the centre, there should not have been much difference between congress and CPM regarding entre-state relationship.  The same could be said about the theme of the seminar ‘Challenges of Secularism in India’ held on April 7.  Thomas has explained that the invitation from the CPM was not to join the party but to participate in the seminar; political observers feel that more discussions would be held between Thomas and CPM state leadership after the party congress.

Covid-19 test can be done using smartphones

Covid-19 test can be done using smartphones

Every day thousands of samples arrive at each of the labs for Covid-19 testing. Checking all this and preparing reports is also a difficult task. Many people are at risk of contracting the disease every day. Most of these labs perform RTPCR tests and antigen tests.

But scientists have found a new way to diagnose Covid-19. It is a technology that allows people to make diagnoses using their smartphones. The technology was developed by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley. Initially it costs  100 dollars, but once you buy all the items you need, subsequent checks can cost up to 7 dollar each.

All you need to make a testing kit is a simple plate, a reactive solution, and a smartphone. You need to have a free app called 'Back Count' installed on your phone. This application is to find out whether Covid-19 is negative or positive from the data captured by the camera on the phone. In a study published at the JAMA Network Open, entitled 'Assessment of a Smartphone-Based Loop-Mediated Isothermal Assay for Detection of SARS-COV-2 and Influenza Viruses', Covid's presence can be detected by the client's in his own saliva test kit.

When the reactive solution is added to the saliva placed on the hot plate, its color changes. This is followed by measuring the presence of the virus using the app. This is calculated by changing the color of the solution.

This technique is called Smart-LAMP. It is said to be able to identify five major variants of Covid-19. Although such a technique has been invented by researchers, it has not been made available to the public. The researchers tested the technique on 20 symptomatic Covid-19 patients and 30 asymptomatic patients. The experiment was carried out using Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphones. The validity of this experiment can only be ascertained after further crossings and experiments. We can all use it only after getting enough approvals. It will have to wait a long time.

The mask is not recommended for children under 5 years of age - New guidelines released.

The use of antivirals or monoclonal antibodies is not recommended for those under 18 years of age, and steroid use, regardless of the severity of the Covid 19 infection, should be taped for 10 to 14 days subject to clinical improvement, according to a new guideline released by the federal government. Among the revised comprehensive guidelines for the management of Covid-19 in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, the Ministry of Health has stated that the mask is not recommended for children aged five years and under.

The mask can be worn by 6-11 year olds depending on the child's ability to use the mask safely and appropriately under the direct supervision of the parents. The guideline states that people 12 years of age and older should wear the mask in the same condition as adults. These guidelines were reviewed by a group of experts in light of the current surge that has mainly contributed to the omicron variant of the corona virus.

Available data from other countries indicate that the severity of the disease caused by the omicron variant is low. However, the home ministry said caution was needed as the current wave was developing. According to these guidelines, Covid-19 is a viral infection and antimicrobials have no role in controlling uncomplicated Covid-19 infection. In mild to moderate cases, antimicrobials are not recommended in the guidelines for therapy and prophylaxis.

The guideline said that appropriate care should be given to children with specific functional abnormalities of any organ during or after hospital stay. These guidelines are dynamic and will be reviewed and updated as new evidence becomes available, the ministry said.

Nadia Murad awarded with Nobel price for Peace 2018

Nadia Murad survived from the worst cruelties ever inflicted on her people, the Yazidis of Iraq, before becoming a global champion of their cause and winning the Nobel Peace Prize 2018.

Murad and Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege were jointly awarded the nobel prize for freedom for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. The nobel committee chairwoman Berit Reiss Andersen said in unveiling the winners in Oslo today.
The 25 year old girl,Murad, her thin, pale face framed by her long brown hair, once lived a quiet life in her village near the mountainous Yazidi stronghold of Sinjar in northern Iraq which is close to the border with Syria.
At the time when ISIS stormed across swathes of the two countries in 2014, her fate changed forever and her nightmare began. One day in August that year, pick-up trucks bearing the black flag of ISIS swept into her village, Kocho.
After being captured by ISIS terrorists, Murad was taken by force to Mosul, the de facto capital of the ISIS's self-declared caliphate. During her ordeal she was held captive and repeatedly gang raped, tortured and brutally beaten.

Murad and her friend Lamia Haji Bashar, joint recipients of the European Unions 2016 Sakharov human rights prize, continue the fight for the 3,000 Yazidis who remain missing, presumed still in captivity. She is now working as a United Nations goodwill ambassador for survivors of human trafficking.
