Whatsapp is ready to implement two more new features

The social media giant Facebook owned messaging platform, WhatsApp has introduced a number of new features recently for its all users. Now they are going to introduce a new ‘Mark as Read’ feature that will allow the users to mark a message from the notification panel itself. Along with this another feature that allow the users to mute a chat from the notification centre is may also been introduced.

The ‘Mark as Read’ shortcut was spotted in WhatsApp Android beta version 2.18.214. Since the feature is currently under development the beta testers might not be able to access it. These new ‘Mark as read’ feature will allow users to mark a message as read directly from the notifications centre without even opening the chat or the app.

The mute option, meanwhile, will allow the users to mute a chat directly from the notification panel without opening the WhatsApp app. If these two features are made available for the users, the notification panel on your phone might get a new look after this update. These features are expected to be made available to beta testers soon which is followed by a public roll out.

Android P’s Name Revealed by mistake and now it is public

The real full name of the new version of Android was revealed by an executive by mistake last day. It has become an annual tradition for people to guess what Google would name its next version of Android which is Android P. This year has been no different for Android P. Google won’t announce the official name until next month but if you are eager to find out what the real name is.

This was happened by the mistake by a Huawei employee, the name of the next Android version is now publically available for everyone. The name was revealed in a live chat conversation between a customer and a Huawei mobile representative.

The customer wanted to know when the Huawei P9 Lite Mini (Y6 Pro) and Huawei P9 Lite (2017) would get updated to EMUI 8.0 (Android 8.0 Oreo). In one of the responses, the Huawei employee then mentions Android Pistachio just as one would casually say Android Oreo.

First Bike in India With Reverse Gear Launched

The bike maker giant from Japan has commenced through its Indian unit in which deals about the deliveries the flagship 2018 Honda Gold Wing touring motorcycle in India. Honda Gold Wing is priced at Rs 26.85 lakh (Ex-Delhi) and is the country's only bike that comes with a reverse gear. A total of 3 units of this motorcycle were delivered in Kochi. The Gold Wing made its first India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and also features Apple Car Play integration. There are several unique things to know about 2018 Honda Gold Wing.The major features are explained as follws.

The new 2018 Gold Wings continues to get horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine. The engine has a displacement of 1833cc with a power of 93 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The new engine also features aluminium cylinder sleeves and a shorter, stiffer crank. The engine is mated to a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and is also the first motorcycle from Honda to get a wishbone front suspension.

The Honda Gold Wing does not get a gear lever or a clutch. The gear shifts are controlled by buttons on the handle bar and always have the chance to let DCT function fully automatically, and the bike will upshift and downshift on its own. Honda says that the DCT technology has been a very successful on its bike, even the Honda Africa Twin adventure motorcycle gets the same transmission. Bikes equipped with DCT offers a special low-speed “Walking” mode in addition to reverse.

The new 2018 Honda Gold Wing is also the first motorcycle to get Apple Car Play integration. The motorcycle gets a 7-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment that can be connected to your Apple iPhone and access Apple Maps, Apple Music and other services. It also gets a smart audio system with a Bluetooth headset that allows you to answer phone calls without taking off your helmet. It also features a USB port. The other top key features include Cruise control, electric windscreen adjustable for angle and height and Smart key control, which adds convenience for ignition and luggage.

Xiaomi Confirmed the Mi 8 Launch Date as May 31

The new model from Xioami, Mi 8 is officially debuting as the new Mi series flagship next week. Xiaomi has scheduled the launch of Mi 8 on May 31. With the confirmation on the upcoming launch, it is also presumed that the Chinese company has no plans to bring the Mi 7 as the successor to its last year's Mi 6 . It appears to be skipping an iteration by launching the Mi 8 to celebrate its eighth anniversary. A box package and a screen protector tipping the launch of the smartphone had already surfaced on the internet.

As confirmed by a teaser image posted on internet, the Xiaomi Mi 8 launch is taking place in Shenzhen, China. Xiaomi Global spokesperson Donovan Sung, in a separate tweet on Tuesday, highlighted that the new launch is aimed to mark the company's eighth anniversary. "To celebrate our 8th year anniversary, we'll be launching Mi 8 at our annual flagship product launch in Shenzhen on May 31.

As per a previous report, Xiaomi already sold tickets of the annual launch event that is also likely to be the place for devices other than the Mi 8, including the Mi Band 3 fitness tracker. Further, it is expected to have around 5000 attendees.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is speculated to come with a notch design and have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The handset is also expected to run Android Oreo on top of a new MIUI version and might have an under display fingerprint sensor. An image leaked recently suggested that Xiaomi is also set to include a dedicated camera unit on the front to enable advanced facial recognition that will be in line with Apple's Face ID that debuted on the iPhone X last year. Also the Mi 8 is expected to counter the OnePlus 6 with its all new build and a bunch of custom features.

The social media giant WhatsApp has brought a new feature that will make your life a lot easy. The update is for both Android users and as well as iOS users. Whatsapp enables a user to have group video calls. It was announced that the update will be rolled out in a couple of weeks.

With this feature in WhatsApp you can now add as many as four group members to join a video call on the messaging platform. If you use a smartphone which runs on Android then you should look for the latest update, which is 2.18.145 and ahead. If you are using updated version of WhatsApp then you will have to use the new feature. Only a handful of users get to use the new feature. And the new feature cannot be activated with an invitation system.

If you use an Apple device, then look for WhatsApp version 2.18.52 for iOS. However, you need to be very lucky to use the new feature.

How to check if your WhatsApp has this new feature:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp

Step 2: Select a participant you wish to call.

Step 3: Do a normal call.

Step 4: Check if there is a new button “Add participant”

Step 5: If there is, then you can now have group calls if you don’t, then you cannot.

WhatsApp confirmed that they are working on a version to enable group video calls. This was confirmed in February that this new feature will be available for the messaging app in future. Then at their annual F8 developers’ conference, Facebook mentioned that a bunch of new features will be headed to WhatsApp including support for group video calling in the coming weeks. This feature is live and can be seen by few users.

WhatsApp launches another important feature

WhatsApp has announced the new chat group features on the current version of the app on both Android and iOS. These new features are now available to the beta testers only, as well as have been spotted on some version but weren’t rolled out. These include the ability to set a group description, brand new WhatsApp group admin, a mention count float icon, and a search option for the group members.

The group description feature is same as the one that was spotted previously in the beta builds of the smartphone. The WhatsApp group admins can now set a description to a group chat to tell the participants what exactly the group is for. The group description can be changed by the admins as well as other non-admin members, whose rights are controlled by the admins only. The admins can restrict the regular group chat members to add, remove, or change a group description.

The group chat admins can now control who can change the name and icon of the group. The group admins can allow or disallow the non-admin members from making any changes to those parameters of the group chat. The group admins can also revoke the permissions of the other group members. The producer of the group can no longer be removed by default by any other admins.

WhatsApp is also introducing new mention floating icons on the chat screen that will let a group member know how many times their name has been mentioned in the chat while catching up on the unread messages. The ‘@’ icon will appear just above the double arrow icon when a group participant is reading the unattended messages. A group member whose name has been mentioned in the group will have to tap on it to directly jump to the message containing their name.

The group search feature has now been released to all the users that will let the group participants search for the other members of a group. All they need to do is go to the Group info setting. There is also a new tool that will discourage the unwanted addition of users to a group after they have left it to reduce spam invitations to join groups on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp now lets users to open chat even without using the app

The social media giant WhatsApp has been introducing different advanced features to make lives easy for 1.5 billion of its active users. Now, the Facebook owned app has registered a new domain wa.me. In a report published on WAbeta Info, the domain is a short link of the api.whatsapp.com and we can use it for quickly open a chat in WhatsApp.This feature is available now for beta users and for users to enjoy the new update, they will need to update their app to Android version 2.18.138.

Users need to type https://wa.me/(phone number) of the person they want to drop the text to. They will automatically be directed to the chat. For an example if phone number you need to chat is +91 9388939394 then type https://wa.me/919388939394 and it shows a message as given below.

If you try to open a chat with an incorrect WhatsApp phone number, the instant messaging app will notify you as ‘phone number shared via url is invalid’.

New Method for booking Train Tickets has been started by IRCTC

The latest updation in e-ticketing system of Railways department , Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has launched a new method for booking rail tickets.

As per the update IRCTC e-wallet users can book rail tickets through its mobile app IRCTC Rail Connect. Payments can be done as the other wallets including Paytm or Mobikwik processing. IRCTC e-wallet users can also recharge their wallet and use the amount at the time of booking rail tickets.

Passengers can use the e-wallet facility by registering themselves on the IRCTC website. A user can keep six banks on his preference list. IRCTC e-wallet is among the many payment e-wallet options available on its website as well as mobile app.

IRCTC Rail Connect app also provides the cab booking facility. IRCTC has tied up with Ola to make commuting easy for rail travellers. IRCTC also introduced a system that helps the rail passengers to order food through IRCTC Food on Track app.

Passengers can book food through the Android app using their PNR number. The app allows users to pay online and offline mode through credit card, debit card, internet banking or cash on delivery.

In addition to this the Railways has also launched no bill, free food policy. Under the new policy, if vendor doesn't provide a bill for food and beverages purchased on trains, the passenger can avail the food for free.

Kerala police to set up Project ‘AFIS’ to identify criminals

As a milestone in the searching of criminal background of persons taken into custody will get easier than before. The home department is planning to set up an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) connecting all police stations in the state. When the system is implemented, the earlier custom of bringing the criminals to the fingerprint bureau to take the fingerprint using ink will be replaced. In future, the information of criminals can be exchanged at national level cooperating with the union home ministry.

As per the new system, details of about 1.5 lakh criminals have been collected in the police headquarters. Crime DIG K. Sethuraman told Mathrubhumi that a 24-hour high resolution fingerprint scanner and server are arranged for AFIS. The programme is implemented with the cooperation of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).

This system will be available in all 500 police stations in the state. In the first phase, the system will be implemented in 80 stations near the courts. Data collection of the criminals have been complete through State Crime Records Bureau. The latest foreign made scanners are provided to the state police by a private firm, which is one of the five companies in the world approved by US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

While we are trying to understand what does the AFIS means, AFIS is a system that connects all the 20 fingerprint bureaus in the state. When a person under police custody presses his/her finger on the mini scanner in police station, the details such as the crime history of the person, the previous cases, the stations where the case is registered etc. will appear on the display of the scanner. This will help to hasten the investigation. The fingerprints of criminals to be arrested in future will also be collected in the system.
