One
of the biggest car maker in the world , Honda is planning to launch the tenth
generation of Honda Civic in India in beginning of next year. These new Segment
sedan will be manufactured at HCIL’s Greater Noida factory and will priced in between Rs. 15 to 20 lakh from
base model to full option. Honda introduced the eighth
generation Civic in 2006. The sedan
became an instant hit receiving over 4000 bookings within a month after its
launch. In 2008, Honda launched the limited edition Civic Hybrid followed by the Civic facelift in June 2010. In
August 2012, Honda had made the decision
to pull the plug on the sedan sales mainly due to the lack of a diesel engine
and SUVs and crossovers taking over its segment.
The upcoming Honda
Civic will be introduced at the Auto Expo in 2018 February according to the reports.Besides,
the company has always priced its products slightly more than rivals to
maintain a premium image.According to the reports the new Honda Civic
will may survive from the other similar models Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia.
The Honda Civic will have both petrol and diesel
variants.The petrol model is expected to having a 1.8 LiVTEC petrol engine, a power of 141 PS ,Torque of 174 Nm, a
transmission of 6 speed Manual/CVT and its’ expected mileage is 12-14 Km/L. The
petrol engine will be the latest iteration of the R18 family displacing 1,799
cc.The diesel model is expected to having a 1.6 L iDTEC diesel engine, a
power of 121 PS , Torque of 300 Nm, a transmission of 6 speed Manual and
its’ expected mileage is 18-19 Km/L.
The 2017 Honda Civic uses an all new
modular platform that makes it 30 kg lighter and improves torsional rigidity by
25%. The usage of high strength steel is up to 12%, a 1% increase over the
previous model.Honda says that the tenth generation model is the most wonderful
remake of previous Civic. Designers have given the car a fastback style tail along
with low and wide proportions in the full body.The low and wide proportions,
with the wheels pushed to the utmost corners, emphasize the Civic’s dynamic
handling prowess and give the car a crouched and muscular look, like a tiger
ready to jump,reported by the officials.
The
new Civic have a new “Flying H” grille design flanked by optional LED
headlamps that feature hockey stick shaped LED daytime running lamps, which are
all signature Honda design elements. Its side profile features a swage line
which bisects front and rear door handles ultimately culminating in the C shape
LED rear lights. The upcoming new model Honda Civic is 30 mm wider, 136 mm
longer and sits 20 mm lower than the old model of Civic.It gets a 7 inch TFT
LCD Driver Information Interface (DII) display that includes a digital
tachometer and digital speedometer. It also houses a high res MID that can display
info like navigation, SMS, email, music info and so on. The centre console
houses a 7 inch Honda Connect 2 touchscreen. For India, expect Honda to offer
the Civic with their DIGIPAD infotainment unit that is found on the City and
WRV. The total volume of the cabin is up by 105 L with additional 50 mm legroom
as compared to the ninth generation Civic.
While we are looking into the exterior
it has an in line full LED headlamps, hockey stick shaped LED DRLs, 16 inch
alloy wheels and C shaped LED tail lights.In the interior designing segment
there is an automatic clmate control system, 7 inch touch screen, Apple Carplay
and Android auto support functionalities, 7 inch TFT LCD Driver Information
Interface, Digital tachometer and digital speedometer, multifunction steering
wheel, cruise control system, sunroof output, reverse parking camera,
electrically adjustable ORVMs with electric fold function.
The new Civic has some more embedded
seafety features than the earlier model . It has 5 star safety rating, 2 to 6
airbags, it holds ABS with EBD, has ISOFIX child seat anchorage points also it
has intensive ultra high strength steel in the body..
