India won the fifth ODI against Australia
held at Nagpur and also won the series by 4-1. In the fifth match Indian player
Rohit Sharma recorded a memorable milestone with his beautiful century and
India beats Australia by seven wickets in the fifth ODI and hence after the
series wins their number one spot in the ICC rankings was set strongly.
In the Indian side Rohit Sharma (125) and
Ajinkya Rahane (61) set up the comprehensive win with a 124 run stand which is their
third century stand in a row, before the former shared a 99 run partnership
with Kohli (39) to take the team on the steps to a big victory. Chasing a fine
score of 243, India eventually got home in 42.5 overs with Manish Pandey
hitting the winning boundary. Rohit
completed his 14th ODI ton over the course of his powerful innings
and also he became the ninth Indian to reach the 6000 run mark in ODIs.
The comfortable chase complemented the
good work done by the opponent bowlers, who were able to restrict Australia to
a below par 242/9 despite a promising start by David Warner (53) and Aaron
Finch (32). With the amazing series win, India also had a sweet revenge through
this series into a 1 - 4 series defeat the last time they played in Australia.
